About

Welcome to Gen Y Mommy! This site is intended to share information, ideas, tips, and experiences by and with the Gen Y moms out there.

About Me

Holly HoffmanMy name is Holly Hoffman, and I’m a 31-year-old stay-at-home mom to one cute Little Dude. He came to us in May 2012, and to say that he changed my life would be an understatement. Before mommyhood, I was a Gen Y blogger at BrazenCareerist.com and my own blog at WorkLoveLife.com. I blogged about the challenges many Gen Ys were facing in their mid-to-late-twenties in their careers, relationships, and lives. It was so exciting to be blogging in 2007 when everything seemed so new and fresh and dynamic in the blogosphere, and in social media in general.

I loved it so much that I started a social media marketing agency with one of my friends. Neovia Solutions was my first baby in so many ways. When I got married though, I knew I wanted to start a family immediately. I had the opportunity to stay home with our son thanks to the amazing support of my husband, and after some mental wrestling I decided to close up shop on my lovely business.

Before Little Dude was even born, it dawned on me that Gen Y was severely underrepresented in the mommy blog arena. I bought the domain and promptly got this blog started 12 months later. (Hey, babies take up a lot of time!)

I feel like I’m a pretty typical Gen Y mom when I look at the friends I made in my early Gen Y blogging days. I like a lot of DIY stuff, like making my own baby food and laundry detergent. I like to cook with organic, locally grown produce as much as I can, and I’ve just begun a vegetable garden in our own raised bed. I read a lot of books and articles about attachment parenting, evolutionary parenting, Montessori and Waldorf education, and the barrage of other stuff we think we need to know about to raise our kids right (there’s blog post I need to write).

About Gen Y Mommy

This site is a work-in-progress right now. You’ll see a lot of categories in the menu that you can’t wait to read about… only to find they don’t have anything in them just yet. Boooo. I know. Just know that I do have ideas waiting in the wings, just waiting for Little Dude’s afternoon nap to be published. In the meantime, if you are looking for information about something, have a question, or need advice, email me! Seriously, I’ll probably answer you within 24 hours and then use it to finally get the blog post written about it.
